1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences over time and across pages. This Policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage and pixels.
Cookies do not by themselves identify you personally; they identify your browser or device.
2. Types of cookies we use
We group cookies into four categories. Under the GDPR and the UAE PDPL, only non-essential cookies (analytics, marketing, and some functional cookies) require your consent. Essential cookies do not require consent because the service cannot function without them.

3. Specific cookies we use
Current state (marketing site).
The public iQanoon website is a static site. At the time of writing, it does not deploy third-party analytics or marketing cookies. It uses only:
- Essential session/security cookies — set by the hosting/CDN layer for security and reliable delivery. These expire when you close your browser.
- On-site assistant state — the chat widget keeps its open/closed and conversation state in your browser session only (no persistent cookie, no cross-site tracking).
When the portals launch.
The user, affiliate, and admin portals will use additional essential cookies for authentication and session management (for example, a session identifier). These are strictly necessary to log you in securely and do not require consent.
When payments are live.
Stripe (and other payment providers, as added) may set cookies on the payment pages for fraud prevention and security. These are necessary to process your payment securely. See Stripe’s privacy policy for details on their cookies.
If we add analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this Policy and present a consent banner allowing you to accept or reject non-essential cookies before they are set.
4. Third-party resources
The site loads some resources from third parties that may set cookies or receive limited technical data (such as your IP address):
- Google Fonts — used to display typography. Requested from Google’s servers; Google may set a cookie (for example, a preferences cookie) or receive your IP address. See Google’s Privacy Policy. (Consider self-hosting fonts to eliminate this third-party request — discuss with your dev team.)
- Stripe — on payment pages, for fraud prevention and checkout functionality (see Stripe’s privacy policy).
We do not control the cookies set by third parties. You can manage them on the relevant provider’s site or via your browser settings.
5. Managing & deleting cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View the cookies that have been set.
- Block all or some cookies.
- Block third-party cookies.
- Delete all cookies when you close the browser.
- Clear cookies that have already been set.
Blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality — for example, you may not be able to log in to the portals or complete a payment. Links to manage cookies in popular browsers:
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common standard for how to interpret this signal, we do not currently respond to it in a specific way. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites. This Policy will be updated if our approach changes.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our service evolves — for example, when we add analytics, payment, or portal functionality. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where required, seek your consent for any new non-essential cookies before they are set.
